I offer a free 15 minute consultation phone call to answer any questions you may have!
Online therapy sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform and ensure accessibility to therapy for those who live outside the immediate local area, have busy work or school schedules, disabilities, or just want to be able to have therapy without needing to take time to commute out of your day! Working exclusively through telehealth allows me to reach anyone in South Carolina and Florida, and makes attending appointments so much easier! All you need is internet access, a computer, or a smart device.
Having a dog who struggles behaviorally can be a difficult and lonely path. You love your dog, and you want to help them, but you also may be feeling frustrated, resentful, confused and hopeless. People in your life may not be able to fully understand the struggle - people often hear "It's just a dog" or give outdated, unhelpful and often unsolicited advice. This group is a place where you can hear from others who are struggling with similar issues, get support and gain some connection. This group is for guardians of dogs who show reactivity, separation anxiety, aggression or other difficult and challenging behaviors.
While this group is facilitated by a licensed social worker, it is not a therapy group. Rather, it is a place to get support from peers. It is held online, and is available to anyone in the United States, depending on interest and availability.
Having a dog who struggles behaviorally can be especially difficult for dog guardians. As a professional working with these guardians, you may find that they need support that goes beyond your behavior training plan for their dog! They may be showing up to training sessions frustrated, resentful, confused and hopeless, and seeking your support for these feelings as well. They may be struggling with relationships and feeling isolated and lacking in support and understanding. And while you have compassion, there may be times when you are just unsure of what to do or say to provide the support needed!
I am available for consultation, to help you come up with a strategy to support the human end of the leash, and to help you feel confident that you are tending to the needs of everyone involved. While I am a licensed social worker, this is not therapy. Rather, I am able to help consult on next steps for the humans you are working with. We will meet online, and this is available to anyone in the United States.
